About me

My journey into sound began at the age of nine with the clarinet, before shifting to guitar in my early teens. Not long after, I was experimenting with songwriting on a Portastudio cassette recorder—writing, recording, and performing wherever I could. Those early experiences naturally led me to SAE Institute Brussels in 2003, where I discovered a deeper passion for both studio production and live sound.

In 2005, I moved to London and began building a diverse career across the audio industry. I’ve worked with live music venues, a language service provider, a production company, and a web radio station, developing a broad skill set in audio production for both music and spoken word. Alongside these roles, I have maintained an active freelance practice as a recording and mixing engineer.

My academic background reflects both the technical and research-driven aspects of audio. I hold a BA (Hons) in Recording Arts and an MA in Creative Media Practice, where my research focused on optimising the recording of the harpsichord. I also hold a PGCert in Teaching Performance HE from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and am a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA).

APP — The Audio Production Path (Coming Soon)

The Audio Production Path (APP) is designed to promote thoughtful, effective practices in music production, supporting students as they develop both technical ability and creative confidence.

In reality, skills, knowledge, and artistic identity rarely come from a single source. Many producers begin as musicians before becoming interested in shaping sound beyond performance. Others may not play an instrument at all, yet are able to guide a session with a clear artistic vision. What unites them is not a fixed path, but a collection of experiences built over time. Creativity is deeply connected to experience—our ideas are often shaped, and sometimes limited, by what we have previously encountered.

Developing as a producer therefore means staying open: exploring widely, experimenting freely, and learning from a variety of sources. Those who grow the most are often those who remain curious, willing to move between disciplines, and able to recognise value in unexpected places. An open mind is essential. Learning does not only happen in studios or classrooms—it happens everywhere: through collaboration, observation, listening, and even mistakes.

Being attentive and curious can lead to new ideas, new approaches, or simply a clearer understanding of what doesn’t work..

APP encourages this mindset. It is not just about acquiring skills, but about developing awareness, adaptability, and critical listening.

Educational content will be shared regularly—so stay tuned and keep exploring.
